A Contract Door Is a Different Object<\/em><\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n

From the corridor, a contract door and a domestic one can look identical. After a year of hospitality use they look nothing alike — and that is the whole point.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The difference lives on the inside and at the edges. A commercial door runs on a solid or engineered core rather than a hollow lattice, which gives it the mass to stay flat, to carry a fire or acoustic grade, and to take a closer without sagging. Every exposed edge is protected with a hardwood lipping or a steel return, because the edge is where a luggage trolley, a cleaning cart or a hose reel does its damage first. The face is sealed to survive the chemicals housekeeping uses daily, so it wipes clean instead of going patchy. The frame, the hinges and the lock case are machined to one template, so the hundredth opening on a floor hangs exactly like the first.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t

A domestic door is specified for a home: light use, no rating, occasional cleaning, one or two of them. Put it on a hotel corridor and it warps, the edge frays, the finish dulls, and within a season it is being replaced room by room with the room out of service while it happens. The cheaper door is almost always the more expensive decision once the replacement cycle and the lost nights are counted.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t

There is a second, quieter difference: documentation. A hospitality building has to satisfy a fire strategy, an acoustic report, a building inspector and an insurer. A contract door arrives with the evidence those parties need — the rating, the test reference, the schedule that says which leaf went where. A domestic door comes with none of it, and on a commercial project that gap is a liability rather than a saving. It is worth judging a door on how it behaves at year three and year five, what happens when one gets damaged, and whether a rated set keeps its certification after it has been hung, used and cleaned for a season. That is where the two diverge for good.<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n
