Overview
A quartz countertop is the hardest-working surface in a hotel. Where a marble table is about display, a worktop is about service — the kitchen line that takes knives and heat, the bar that takes spilled drinks all night, the reception and servery counters that are wiped down a hundred times a day. Engineered quartz and natural quartzite were made for exactly this: dense, non-porous, colour-consistent stone surfaces that hold up to commercial use in a way that softer natural stones cannot. We fabricate them as contract quartz worktops and countertops, specified and detailed for hospitality rather than sold from a domestic showroom.
This category is broader than quartz alone. There are four engineered and advanced surfaces we work with — engineered quartz, porcelain (sintered stone), solid surface (acrylic, such as Corian) and terrazzo — each made both in Turkey and by the well-known international brands, and each strong at a different job. We are deliberately brand-agnostic: we specify and fabricate whichever surface and brand suits the project, and guide the client to the right one for each location rather than pushing a single material. All four are cut, mitred and finished on the same CNC and waterjet lines we use for the rest of a stone package.
This is fabrication for projects, not a retail slab yard. Surfaces are templated to the cabinetry, seams are planned where they will not be seen, edges are profiled to the design, and the whole worktop is engineered to sit flat and carry weight on a commercial cabinet. Made to project in Istanbul and shipped worldwide, an engineered stone countertop from us is specified to look and perform the same in its tenth year of service as its first.

Why Engineered Quartz
For a hospitality operator the choice of worktop is a maintenance decision as much as an aesthetic one. A surface that stains, etches or harbours bacteria becomes a daily problem on a commercial floor; a non-porous engineered surface largely removes that problem. That is why engineered stone countertops have become the default for back-of-house kitchens, bars and high-use front counters, with natural quartzite and marble reserved for the moments that are meant to be seen. The case rests on hygiene, consistency, durability and look.
Engineered quartz absorbs almost no liquid, so it resists staining from wine, coffee and oil and gives bacteria nowhere to sit — a food-safe surface that needs no sealing.
Made in controlled batches, engineered quartz repeats its colour and pattern predictably, so a long run of worktops or a whole hotel kitchen matches rather than drifts.
A dense quartz or quartzite surface resists the scratches, knocks and daily abrasion of a working counter far better than softer marble or laminate.
Calacatta and Taj Mahal style veining gives the appearance of high marble with the performance of engineered stone — the look without the upkeep.
Every top is templated and cut to the exact cabinet run, island or counter, with planned seams and bespoke cut-outs for sinks and hobs, not forced from a stock size.
An engineered surface keeps its finish under heavy use, so a counter looks current across a full refurbishment cycle rather than tiring in a year or two.

Application
The kitchen is where engineered stone earns its place. Quartz kitchen countertops — or quartz worktops in UK terms — give a back-of-house or show kitchen a single, seamless, non-porous working surface that takes knives, heat and constant cleaning without staining or harbouring bacteria. We fabricate the full kitchen surface from one material: the main runs, the island top, the upstands and the splashback, with planned seams and precise cut-outs for undermount sinks, hobs and taps, so the finished kitchen reads as one continuous surface rather than a set of joined pieces.
Colour is led by the scheme. White quartz countertops remain the most-specified choice for a bright, clean commercial kitchen — from a plain bright white to a sparkling white or a soft white with grey veining that reads as marble from across the room. Grey quartz countertops in mid to charcoal tones hide wear well on a busy line, and black quartz countertops give a dramatic, low-maintenance surface for a chef's table or a dark scheme. Every colour is available across the worktops, the island and the splashback so the kitchen coordinates, and the same engineered surface can carry through onto a fitted HFC kitchen as a single supplied package. Materials
“Engineered stone” covers more than quartz. In practice a hotel project chooses between four engineered and advanced surfaces, each made very differently and each best at a different job. All four are produced in Turkey as well as by the famous international brands, and part of our role is to guide the client to the right one — we are not tied to a single material or maker.
Roughly ninety per cent crushed natural quartz bound in resin and pigment, vibro-compacted and cured. Dense, non-porous and colour-consistent batch to batch — the all-round workhorse for kitchen and bar counters. Turkish: Cimstone, Coante, Belenco. International: Silestone, Cambria, Caesarstone.
Mineral powders pressed under high pressure and sintered at very high heat, with no resin. Extremely heat-, UV- and scratch-resistant, available in large, thin, light slabs with full-body or continuous patterns. International: Neolith, Dekton, Laminam. Turkish: T-One, Lamar.
Cast acrylic (or polyester) resin filled with mineral powder. Thermoformable into curves, with chemically bonded, genuinely invisible seams and integrated basins — superb for bathrooms and shaped pieces, though softer than quartz or porcelain. Brands: Corian and equivalents.
Marble and stone chips set in a cement or resin binder, cast and then ground and polished to reveal the aggregate. Highly characterful and bespoke — chip, colour and binder are all specified — for floors, counters and feature pieces with a retro-contemporary look.
Because we work across all four, the recommendation is honest: the surface is chosen for the way it is made and how that suits the job — the look, the format, the wear it will take and the budget — and the brand follows from what the project needs, in Turkish or international product.
Comparison
They are made from different things in different ways, and those differences show up exactly where they matter on a finished piece — at the edge, the mitred 45° joint, a curve and the installed seam.
In short: a quartz mitre comes out well but the joint line can be seen; a porcelain 45° joint is the material’s weak point and needs care, even though the face is the toughest of the four; and a solid surface joint is excellent — thermoformed and chemically bonded into a piece with no visible seam at all. The right surface depends on which of these properties the design cares about most.
Kitchen
For a working kitchen the priorities are hardness, heat, hygiene and how the surface copes with daily abuse. The four engineered stones do not score the same, and the table below sets out where each one belongs.
The practical rule we give clients is simple: quartz is the better surface for kitchen counters, and solid surface (Corian) is the better surface for vanity counters. In a kitchen, the worktop takes knives, hot pans, heavy pots and constant cleaning, and quartz’s hardness and stain resistance simply last longer there. In a bathroom the demands are different — far less heat and impact, but a real wish for a soft, warm, hygienic surface with the basin built in — and solid surface answers that perfectly: the bowl is thermoformed into the top with no seam or rim to trap water, the matte surface feels warm to the touch, and any scuff can be sanded out on site. Each material to the room that suits it.
Application
Beyond the kitchen line, engineered stone does the show pieces. A waterfall island — where the surface mitres at the corner and runs vertically to the floor — has become a signature of contemporary hotel kitchens, breakfast rooms and demonstration counters, and quartz is the natural material for it: a mitred waterfall counter needs a surface that matches perfectly across the joint and holds a crisp edge, which engineered stone does precisely. We fabricate the island top, the waterfall ends and any breakfast-bar overhang as one matched set, with concealed support for the overhang.
The same surface runs through the front-of-house counters that take the heaviest public use. A quartz bar countertop shrugs off spilled drinks, citrus and ice all night without etching, which is why it outlasts a marble or timber bar top on a working bar; reception, concierge and servery counters in engineered stone stay clean and unmarked under constant wiping and contact. Because the material is consistent and cut to template, a long reception desk or a curved bar can be made from matched sections with planned, near-invisible seams, and the counter can coordinate with a stone-topped table or feature wall elsewhere in the same space.
The same waterfall island also shows how differently the four surfaces behave, and the choice is a trade-off. On a porcelain island the pattern can be carried continuously from the top down over the side, so the veining runs unbroken around the corner — but the mitred edge will never be as crisp or as robust as a quartz one, because porcelain’s thin, brittle edge is its weak point. A quartz waterfall holds a clean, strong edge and matches well across the mitre, with only a faint joint line visible. A solid surface waterfall has almost no visible seam at all, thermoformed and bonded into one continuous piece — but the material is softer than quartz and porcelain and takes more care on a hard-working surface. We set out this trade-off — pattern continuity, edge crispness or an invisible seam — and fabricate to the one that matters most for the piece.
Colours
The single biggest reason designers choose engineered quartz over natural marble for a working surface is the marble-look range: quartz that looks like marble but does not stain or etch. Calacatta-style quartz, with its bold grey veining on a bright white ground, and warm, beige-veined Taj Mahal style surfaces are among the most-requested finishes for kitchens, islands and bars that want the appearance of high marble with the performance of engineered stone. Carrara-style soft grey veining, dramatic Cristallo-style translucency and full-bodied veined patterns complete a palette that gives a marble effect across a whole project, consistently, slab to slab.
Plain colours cover the rest of the brief. Bright and sparkling white quartz, mid and charcoal grey, deep black, and accent tones including blue and green are all available across worktops, islands and counters, with the same colour carried through a scheme for a coordinated finish. Specification
Engineered quartz and quartz slabs are supplied in large-format jumbo sizes, which lets us fabricate long worktop runs, island tops and tall splashbacks with the fewest possible joints. Surfaces are templated to the as-built cabinetry, and seams are planned to fall at sinks, corners or low-visibility points. For re-tops and refurbishments, a slim overlay slab can go over sound existing units. We cut, mitre and finish every slab in-house on CNC and waterjet.
Standard worktops are made in 20 mm (2 cm) and 30 mm (3 cm), with a slim 12 mm option for overlays and a mitred build-up that creates a substantial 40 to 60 mm apparent thickness from a thinner slab — the usual choice for islands and statement counters. The right gauge is set by the span, the support and the look the scheme wants.
Edges run from a fine pencil or eased profile for a clean contemporary line, through a crisp bevel and a soft bullnose, to a bold mitred edge for thickness and the full waterfall that carries the surface down an island side. Cut-outs for undermount and integrated sinks, drainer grooves, tap holes and hob recesses are all machined to template.
A polished finish gives the reflective, easy-clean surface most kitchens and bars want; a honed or matt finish gives a softer, contemporary, low-sheen look that suits darker colours and design-led schemes. Finish is consistent across the whole supplied surface so worktops, island and splashback match.
Performance
Specifying a surface for a commercial floor is about how it behaves under real use, and engineered quartz behaves well on the things that matter. Because it is non-porous, it resists staining from wine, coffee, citrus and oil and does not need the periodic sealing that natural stone requires; the same density makes it hygienic and easy to keep clean, which is why it is a common choice for food-preparation surfaces. It is hard and abrasion-resistant, so a working counter keeps its finish under daily knocks and cleaning far better than marble or laminate.
There are two honest caveats we always flag. Engineered quartz contains resin, so it is not heat-proof in the way a fired surface is — a hot pan should go on a trivet, not straight onto the worktop — and prolonged direct UV is best avoided for the brightest whites, which is one more reason engineered quartz is an indoor surface while exterior and poolside work moves to other materials. Natural quartzite is harder and more heat-tolerant but, as a natural stone, benefits from sealing. Choosing
Most projects use more than one stone, and matching the material to the job is what keeps a scheme both beautiful and practical. As a single manufacturer for the whole stone package, we route each surface to the right material and the right product page rather than forcing one answer. In short: choose engineered quartz for working surfaces that must stay non-porous and consistent; choose quartzite for a natural feature surface that still performs; and choose genuine marble where the look of real stone is the point and the surface is not under constant working use.

Installation
Installation matters as much as the slab for every kind of stone work, and it begins with measurement. Engineered stone is cut to its final size in the workshop and cannot be trimmed freely once it is on site, so taking accurate dimensions — by physical template or laser survey of the real, built cabinetry — is critical. A worktop drawn a few millimetres out, or to a wall that is not as square as the drawing assumed, becomes an expensive remake rather than a quick fix.
This is where stone differs from furniture. A piece of furniture can usually be scribed, planed or adjusted against an out-of-true wall on the spot; a hard engineered surface cannot. Cutting and cleaning stone on site is neither as clean nor as easy — it means wet-cutting, dust and a real risk of chipping a finished edge — so we keep site work to a minimum: we template precisely, fabricate and pre-finish in the workshop, dry-fit and plan every seam where it will least be seen, and bring the pieces to fit. The result is an installation that is fast and clean on site because the difficult, dusty work was done under controlled conditions first.
Project Capability
Supplying worktops for a hotel is a different exercise from a single domestic kitchen, and our fabrication is set up for it. We work from drawings or site templates, reserve and batch slabs so a long run or a whole property matches, and schedule fabrication to the project programme rather than to stock availability. For a group or a multi-unit development — an aparthotel with dozens of identical kitchenettes, a restaurant roll-out, a refurbishment across a portfolio — the same engineered surface, colour and edge detail can be repeated exactly for a later phase or a sister property.
Engineered stone is heavy and the edges are vulnerable in transit, so finished worktops are crated in purpose-built timber packing that protects the faces and arrises, labelled by location for an orderly install.
