Overview
Every office is planned around the desk. It sets the grid the floor is laid out on, decides how many people fit in a footprint, and carries the monitors, the documents and the cabling that the work actually runs on. Get the desk right and the rest of the fit-out follows; get it wrong — too small, too flimsy, badly cabled — and the floor fights the people using it every day. The office desk is the single most-specified piece of furniture in a commercial interior, and on a contract floor it has to be a workhorse first and a feature second.
A contract office desk is built for a different life than a desk bought for a spare room. It is used hard for the length of a lease, knocked and leaned on and rolled up to a hundred times a week, loaded with equipment, and expected to look the same in year five as in year one. That means a worktop and edge that resist impact and wear, a frame engineered for rigidity rather than flat-pack convenience, and cable management designed in rather than added on. None of that shows in a brochure photograph, and all of it decides whether a floor of desks survives.
We manufacture the full range of fixed-height office desks to project — straight and rectangular desks, corner and L-shaped workstations, bench and cluster team desking, and office tables — produced to your specification and shipped as a coordinated order. Whether the brief is a single private office or a multi-floor rollout, every desk is built to the same contract standard and delivered to suit the programme — this page covers the fixed-height range.

A desk is judged in a showroom on its colour and in service on three things the colour hides: the worktop core, the edge, and the frame. These are where a contract desk earns its keep and where a budget desk gives itself away within a year.
The worktop is a laminate or melamine-faced surface over a board core, and the grade of that core is what matters. A contract top uses a dense, moisture-resistant board that stays flat and resists the dints and scratches of daily equipment, where a thin or low-density core sags between supports and chips at the first knock. The facing is specified for wear and for look — a hard-wearing laminate in the colours and woodgrains to match the scheme, chosen to take years of mugs, keyboards and document trays without marking.
The edge is the most abused part of any desk and the quickest tell of quality. A contract desk is finished with a thick ABS or PVC edge band, impact-resistant and bonded to take the constant contact of chairs, knees and trolleys; a cheap desk uses a thin tape that peels and lifts at the corners. On a busy floor the edge detail is not cosmetic — it is what stops the desk looking tired six months in.
The frame decides rigidity and the look of the desk underneath. Panel-end frames give a solid, enclosed look and built-in modesty; A-frame and cantilever legs give a lighter, more open feel and easy access for cabling; bench frames carry whole runs of desks on a shared structure. Whichever system, a contract frame is engineered so the desk does not rack or wobble when leaned on, with levelling feet to sit flat on an uneven floor. Built from standard, replaceable parts, a contract desk can be re-topped or re-legged and kept in service far longer than a sealed flat-pack unit that is scrapped at the first failure.
Configure
The right desk depends on the role and the floor. Select a type to see where it fits and what to specify.
The standard workstation — a rectangular worktop on a panel-end, A-frame or cantilever leg, sized to the plan. The default for assigned desks and open-plan rows, ordered in a single size across a floor or specified per role, with an optional pedestal or return for storage.
• Assigned desks and open-plan rows
• Panel-end, A-frame or cantilever leg
• Typical 1200–1800 mm widths
• Optional pedestal or return
Sizes, worktop finishes and frame types are confirmed against your specification; we build to a floor plan rather than a fixed catalogue, and most fit-outs mix two or three of these types. For height-adjustable and sit-stand desks see our standing desks. This page covers fixed-height workstations, tables and executive desks.
The executive desk is a different brief from the workstation, and one of the most-searched desks there is. It belongs in the director's office, the partner's room and the management suite, where the desk is a statement as much as a surface — larger, more substantial, and finished to a standard the open floor does not need. Where a workstation is chosen for density and value, an executive desk is chosen for presence: a generous worktop in wood veneer or a high-grade laminate, clean detailing, and the weight to anchor a senior room.
A proper executive desk is a small suite rather than a single piece. It is usually specified with a return to wrap the work around the user, a desk-high pedestal of drawers, and a matching credenza behind for storage and a display surface — all in the same finish so the office reads as one designed room. An L-shaped executive desk gives the same effect where the corner suits it. Beneath the finish, the desk is built on the same contract structure as our workstations, so it is a piece that looks senior and lasts like a contract product rather than a showroom one.
We make executive and director desks to project, in the veneers, laminates and sizes to suit the room, coordinated with the executive seating and the rest of the office so management offices match the floor they sit above. Direct factory pricing is provided on enquiry, and the executive pieces ship in the same coordinated order as the workstations.
The finish is where a floor of desks becomes a designed scheme rather than a row of furniture. Worktops are specified in the laminate colours and woodgrains to match the interior — light or dark, warm or neutral — with a coordinated edge band, so reception, management and the open floor read as one palette. Because the desks are made to project, the finish is matched across every position and against the rest of the office furniture, with samples signed off before any run begins.
A working desk lives on its cable management, and a contract specification designs it in from the start. Cable ports and grommets drop screens and power cleanly through the worktop; an under-desk tray or basket holds the slack off the floor; and on a bench, a central cable spine carries power and data along a whole run so a row of desks is fed from a single point. Power and data modules at the desktop, modesty panels and desk-mounted screens finish the workstation, keep the floor compliant and tidy, and give privacy and acoustic separation on a shared bench. On a fleet, the cabling design is part of the desk specification — not something the IT team has to solve afterwards.
How many desks fit a floor — and whether the people at them have room to work — comes down to desk size and the clearances around them. A 1400 or 1600 mm desk is the comfortable standard for a full workstation with two monitors; 1200 mm suits compact and touchdown positions; managers and dual-monitor roles take a 1800 mm straight or a corner. Behind each desk, allow enough circulation for a chair to push back and a person to pass, and on a bench plan the run length and the cable spine to the structure of the floor.
This is where a manufacturer who builds to plan earns its place over a catalogue supplier. We size desks to the floor plan rather than forcing the plan to fit stock sizes, advise on the mix of straight, corner, bench and compact positions that gets the density and the working comfort right, and produce the whole order coordinated so it installs as a scheme. The result is a floor that seats the headcount the brief needs without the cramped rows that come from squeezing the wrong desks into the space.
The case for a contract desk programme is clearest on a large or multi-site fit-out. One desk standard across the building means every position matches, spares and components are interchangeable, and a desk added or moved in three years still fits the scheme. A coordinated worktop palette ties the floors together, and a single point of supply for the desks, the tables, the cable management and the spares takes the friction out of both the install and the years after it.
We quote each project from the headcount, the floor plan and the mix of desk types, and produce them as a coordinated order in a four to eight week window. Desks ship worldwide on an FOB or CIF basis from Istanbul, packed for efficient assembly on site, with a recommended allowance of spare tops and components on large orders and a two-year warranty across the range. Direct factory pricing is provided on enquiry, and the whole office programme — desks, seating, storage and reception — can be specified together so it arrives matched.
