Overview
The hotel TV unit — also called a hotel media console, hotel TV cabinet, hotel television unit, or hotel TV console — is the furniture element opposite the bed in any hotel guest room. It is simultaneously a functional piece (housing the television, cables, minibar, and in-room information) and a major visual element (the wall opposite the bed is what guests look at from the moment they sit down to the moment they fall asleep).
HFC manufactures hotel TV units in three configurations: a standard hotel media console (a freestanding unit below a wall-mounted television), an integrated hotel workstation (a full-wall unit combining TV, desk, storage, and minibar in a single piece), and a hotel TV wall panel (a wall-mounted floating unit — no floor contact). The right TV unit for hotel room depends on room size, star rating, and design brief. A hotel TV cabinet design that works at 3-star is fundamentally different from a 5-star specification.
All hotel room TV units include integrated cable management as standard — the most common hotel guest room complaint is visible cables behind the television. Custom width, height, surface finish, and minibar housing available from 20 units. Surface finish matched to the room's full casegoods specification.

All hotel tiers · most specified
The standard hotel TV unit — a freestanding hotel media console below a wall-mounted television. This is the most widely specified hotel room TV unit configuration across all tiers. The television is wall-mounted above the unit; the carcass provides cable management, minibar housing, and storage below. Width is typically 1,200–1,600mm — wider than the television to create a balanced visual proportion.
Best for
All hotel tiers from 3-star upward. The most flexible configuration: width and height are independent of the room wall dimensions, it can be installed against any wall, and it can be specified, delivered, and replaced independently of other casegoods.
✓ TV wall-mounted above — unit width 1,200–1,600mm standard
✓ Carcass height 500–600mm — TV screen centre at 1,000–1,100mm from floor
✓ Rear cable management channel routes TV, HDMI, aerial, and set-top box cables
✓ Back-panel ventilation slot for set-top box heat dissipation
✓ Minibar housing recess standard — specify minibar model dimensions
✓ Open shelf or door configuration below minibar for in-room folder
✓ Available in all surface finishes: LPL MDF, veneer, Mattplus, lacquer
✓ Legs, plinth base, or panel-end base — specify with room aesthetic
Proportion tip
The hotel TV unit should be wider than the television by a minimum of 200mm on each side — this creates a visually balanced wall composition. A 55-inch TV (approximately 1,230mm wide) should sit above a unit of at least 1,400mm width. Specify unit width from the TV size and wall width confirmed on the room layout drawing.
Hotelier's Tip
If budget allows, invest in a wall-panel-integrated TV unit. Besides creating a more premium appearance, it helps conceal cables, sockets, data points, and other visual clutter. It also provides greater flexibility when positioning the TV, eliminating the need to align the screen with existing electrical and data outlets.
Always center the TV with the bed, not the wall. Guests primarily watch television from the bed, and proper alignment significantly improves comfort and viewing experience.
Plan sufficient access panels behind the TV unit for future maintenance and technology upgrades. Replacing cables, media devices, or electrical components should not require dismantling the entire feature wall.

Design Guide
The most searched keyword in this category is "hotel TV unit design" — what guests and procurement managers want to see is how the TV unit looks and fits the room at different tier levels.
3-Star
★★★ Budget · functional
LPL MDF Console
LPL MDF finish in a wood-effect decor. This is the most common hotel room TV cabinet specification at 3-star — functional, durable, and cost-effective. Flat surface, basic cable management, minibar housing. TV wall-mounted above on a fixed bracket. Functional, durable, and cost-effective. Width 1,200mm minimum. The TV unit at 3-star is about functionality — guests expect the TV to work and the cables to be tidy.
4-Star
★★★★ Mid-upscale · designed
Veneer or Mattplus Unit
Natural veneer (oak or walnut) or Mattplus finish — the hotel style TV cabinet that coordinates with desk and nightstand. Concealed cable management, minibar behind a door, integrated mirror panel option above. Width 1,400–1,600mm. The TV unit is a design piece — it sets the tone of the room's material palette. Hotel TV unit design at 4-star is about visual coherence across all casegoods.
5-Star
★★★★★ Luxury · architectural
Full-Wall Integrated Unit
A full-wall integrated unit: TV section, desk, storage, and minibar as one architectural element. Veneer or lacquer in a custom colour. All cabling concealed in wall cavity. The television appears to float within the composition. Hotel room TV unit design at 5-star is about making the opposite-bed wall a destination — a piece that guests photograph and remember.
TV height & viewing angle
The most critical specification for a hotel television unit is the viewing height. The centre of the TV screen should be at approximately 1,000–1,100mm from the floor — this corresponds to eye level for a guest seated upright in bed at standard hotel bed height (550–600mm mattress top). Too low: guest looks down at an uncomfortable angle. Too high: guest must crane their neck. The carcass height of 500–600mm, with the TV wall-mounted above, achieves this naturally. For hotel TV cabinet designs where the TV sits on the unit surface (not wall-mounted), specify the unit at 600–650mm height to achieve the same screen centre position.
Cable management
Visible cables behind the television are among the most photographed maintenance issues on hotel review sites. A proper cable management solution routes all TV power, HDMI, aerial, and set-top box cables through a concealed rear channel in the hotel TV unit, emerging at a single access point. HFC units include a rear cable channel and back grommet as standard. For hotel TV wall units, all cables route through the wall cavity — specify before plastering. Back-panel ventilation slots prevent overheating of set-top box equipment within the unit.
Minibar housing
Minibar housing within the hotel media console is a standard option at 3-star and above. The minibar recess dimensions must be confirmed against the minibar unit specification before manufacture — HFC manufactures the recess to fit the exact minibar model. Options include:
— Open recess — minibar visible and accessible without opening a door
— Behind a door — concealed when not in use; push-to-open or handle
— Ventilated recess — required for minibar models that need rear ventilation
Specify the minibar brand and model at the quotation stage — recess dimensions vary by 20–50mm between manufacturers and a tight fit cannot be corrected after production.
Surface finish
— LPL MDF — scratch-resistant, 500+ wood-effect decors. 3-star standard. Cost-effective and durable.
— Mattplus — soft-touch board. 4-star contemporary. Higher scratch resistance than lacquer at lower cost.
— Natural veneer — oak, walnut, teak. 4-star and 5-star. Authentic material quality matched across all casegoods.
— Lacquer — any RAL colour. Brand-specific colour matching. Requires careful handling during installation.
