Overview
The hotel wardrobe — also called a hotel room wardrobe, guest room wardrobe, hotel closet unit, or in traditional properties a hotel armoire — is the primary clothing storage piece in any guest room. It is also a significant visual anchor on the wall it occupies. A well-specified hotel wardrobe with properly proportioned dimensions, a well-thought interior configuration, and a surface finish matched to the room's casegoods reads as designed; a standard residential wardrobe retrofitted into a hotel room reads as a cost-cutting decision that guests notice.
HFC manufactures hotel wardrobes in three door configurations — hinged-door, sliding-door, and open-front — each with fully customisable interior fittings. Every hotel room wardrobe is manufactured from 18mm MDF carcass in all surface finishes, with interior components in melamine-faced board for durability. The integrated luggage rack option, in-room safe housing, and full-height or split mirror are specified at the quotation stage.
All hotel wardrobes are part of HFC's complete guest room casegoods range — manufactured in the same Istanbul factory as the desk, nightstand, TV unit, and bathroom vanity, ensuring a fully coordinated finish specification across every piece in the room.

Hinged & sliding · all hotel tiers
HFC manufactures both hinged-door and sliding-door hotel wardrobes — the two most widely specified configurations. A hinged door wardrobe opens outward on concealed hinges, giving full simultaneous access to the interior, and suits any room with clearance in front. A sliding door wardrobe moves within the wardrobe width on a top-hung track, needs no front clearance, and is preferred for compact rooms or where the wardrobe faces the bed.
Best for
Hinged doors suit 3-star through 5-star rooms with clearance on the entrance-corridor wall; sliding doors suit compact 4-star and 5-star rooms, or any layout where the wardrobe sits opposite the bed.
✓ Hinged — full simultaneous access to both interior sections
✓ Hinged — requires 550–600mm clearance in front of the door swing
✓ Sliding — zero front clearance; doors slide within the wardrobe width
✓ Sliding — top-hung track preferred, no floor rail to collect dust
✓ Soft-close concealed hinges or end-of-travel sliding dampers — Hafele, Hettich or Blum
✓ Full-height mirror on one or both door faces available
✓ Floor-to-ceiling recommended for both — improves visual proportion
✓ Surface finishes: LPL MDF, veneer, Mattplus, lacquer in any RAL
Clearance note
Choose hinged where there is 550–600mm of clear floor space in front of the wardrobe; choose sliding where there is not, or where the wardrobe faces the bed. Confirm the swing or slide direction on the room layout drawing before specifying.
Tips from a Hotelier
• Wardrobes are not only for storing clothes. They can be the heart of your hotel room by facilitating the minibar and minibar counter, safe, ironing board, shoe rack and luggage rack.
• Wardrobes are generally placed at the entrance, where the ceiling height is lower than the rest of the room due to the A/C unit. Make the wardrobe full height to reduce the cleaning operation.
• Avoid sliding doors in a hotel wardrobe due to the possibility of vandal usage and higher maintenance cost.
• Use the space behind the hotel entrance door as an integrated luggage rack in the wardrobe.
• Make sure to use soft-close hinges for silent and accurate closing.
• Don’t forget to leave the necessary ventilation at the side or behind the wardrobe for the minibar.

Dimensions Guide
Standard hotel wardrobe dimensions vary by room size, bed configuration, and star rating. Always specify against the confirmed room layout drawing — wardrobe width directly affects the room's traffic flow.
Hotel wardrobe dimensions — key rule
Always specify hotel wardrobe dimensions from the room layout drawing, not from a generic standard. The wardrobe width determines the room's traffic flow between the bed and the bathroom. In standard rooms under 25m², the wardrobe is typically the piece that most constrains the room layout — getting the width right at specification stage saves costly on-site adjustments.
A hotel wardrobe interior specification is as important as the exterior. The following fittings are available on all HFC hotel room wardrobes — select by star rating and room type.
Standard fittings — 3-star and above
✓
Full-height hanging rail
Minimum 900mm drop for dresses and long garments. Chrome or satin finish.
✓
Short-hang section
600mm drop for jackets, suits, and shirts. Positioned above a shelf or drawer unit.
✓
Top shelf
Above hanging rail for bags, hats, and bulky items. Depth matched to wardrobe interior.
✓
In-room safe housing
Recessed shelf at mid-height for in-room safe — specify safe dimensions at quotation stage.
✓
Integrated luggage rack
Fixed or pull-out shelf at 450–500mm height for suitcase placement. Min. 500×700mm surface.
Upgraded fittings — 4-star and above
✓
Full-height mirror — internal or door
Full-length mirror on door interior or separate wardrobe mirror panel. Reduces need for separate mirror piece.
✓
Drawer unit
2–3 drawer unit for folded clothing. Soft-close runners standard. Alternative to fixed shelves in lower section.
✓
Trouser press housing
Vertical recess sized for a standard trouser press unit. Positioned in a dedicated wardrobe bay.
✓
LED interior lighting
Recessed LED strip above hanging rail, triggered by door opening sensor. Significant perceived quality upgrade.
✓
Shoe shelf or pull-out tray
Dedicated shoe storage at base level, angled or flat. Reduces guest tendency to leave shoes on wardrobe floor.
Integration option
A hotel wardrobe with luggage rack integrates the luggage shelf directly into the wardrobe carcass — a fixed or pull-out shelf at 450–500mm height within a dedicated section of the wardrobe. This eliminates the need for a separate freestanding luggage rack, saves floor space, and ensures the luggage area has a finished, intentional appearance rather than an afterthought. HFC manufactures integrated luggage racks as a standard option on all hotel room wardrobes — specify at the quotation stage, as it affects the interior layout. SC data shows "hotel wardrobe with luggage rack" ranks position 4.4 for this site — a direct search intent we fulfil with this configuration.

— LPL MDF — melamine-faced, 500+ decors, scratch-resistant. Standard for 3-star; cost-effective and durable.
— Mattplus — soft-touch scratch-resistant board. Contemporary alternative to lacquer at 4-star, lower cost and higher scratch resistance than painted surfaces.
— Natural veneer — oak, walnut, teak, wenge. Authentic grain for 4-star and 5-star casegoods packages. Matched across desk, nightstand, and TV unit.
— Lacquer — any RAL colour, matt or gloss. Brand-specific colour matching. Handle carefully during installation.
Hardware
Door hinges: Hafele, Hettich or Blum soft-close concealed hinges, rated for 80,000+ opening cycles. For hotel style wardrobe specifications requiring a more traditional look, visible barrel or piano hinges are available. Sliding door hardware: top-hung track system — no floor rail to collect debris. Soft-close damper at end of travel as standard. Handles: bar handle (chrome, brushed steel, or brass), recessed grip (machined into door face), or push-to-open (handle-free) — specify at quotation stage.
Hotel wardrobe vs hotel armoire
A hotel wardrobe is a floor-to-ceiling or full-height storage unit — built-in appearance, clean lines, specified as part of the room's casegoods package. A hotel armoire is a shorter, freestanding furniture piece with more ornate detailing — associated with heritage, traditional, and boutique hotel aesthetics. HFC manufactures both: hotel wardrobes for contemporary and standard hotel specifications, and hotel style armoire units for properties with a period or traditional interior brief. Specify which aesthetic your project requires at the enquiry stage.
